This was inspired by the string quartet composition by Sri VS Narasimhan Sir. I have played the song Mokshamu Galada, by Sri Thyagaraja set in the raga Saramathi, in Adi Tala(8 beat cycle). I arranged the strings and cello parts.
The pitch of this song is D# and the scale of the raga is as follows,
Arohanam : S R2 G2 M1 P D1 N2 S’ (D# F F# G# A# B C# D#’)
Avarohanam : S’ N2 D1 M1 G2 S (D#’ C# B G# F# D#)
This raga does not have all the seven notes in the descending part of the scale. Such ragas where the ascending and descending scales do not have uniformly seven swaras are called janya ragas. They are derived from the 72 basic sampoorna ragas which have all the seven notes in uniformly ascending and descending scales.

Awesome performance sir, me and my friend (both on violin) are trying to practice this song. Are you professional flutist?
